Avustralya’nın Yeni
Güney Galler(NSW) Eyaletindeki yangın söndürme çalışmaları devam ediyor. Bölgesindeki orman
yangınlarının yerleşim bölgelerini tehdit etmesi nedeniyle çok sayıda kişi
tahliye edildi.

2 bini aşkın itfaiye görevlisinin katıldığı ve  80 ayrı noktada devam eden yangınların kontrol
altına alınmada ciddi zorlukların yaşandığı belirtildi. Saatte 75 kilometre
hızla esen rüzgarın da yangınları söndürmeyi zorlaştırdığı belirtiliyor.
Hava sıcaklığının, mevsimin çok üstüne çıkmasının
tetiklediği yangınlarda, rüzgarın da etkisiyle, söndürme çalışmasının zorlaştığı
kaydediliyor. Aniden yükselen hava sıcaklıkları bazı noktalarda 47 dereceye vararak,
rekor seviyeye ulaştığı kaydediliyor. Yetkililer, 2009 yılında 173 kişinin
yaşamını yitirdiği orman yangınlarından daha kötü bir durumla karşı karşıya
oldukları endişesini dile getirerek; “Bu durumda yapılabilecek çok fazla
şey yok” ifadelerini kullandı.
